Dan May

4M Feeders, Herd Co and Magnum Feedyard Stratton, CO

Growing up on a farm in Stratton, Colorado, Dan May learned the value of hard work at a young age, milking cows, feeding cattle, and farming.

He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Farm & Ranch Management and a minor in Economics. He worked as a commodity broker, a feedlot controller, the Head of Cattle Procurement & Commodity Trading for Seckler Cattle Company (in partnership with Louis Dreyfus Corporation), and as Head of Cattle Operations for Foxley Cattle Co before being able to devote all his time to the family businesses.

During this time, he and his brothers, Jim, Tom and Steve grew their small family farm and 2,500 head feedlot into numerous farming, feedlot and ranching operations in Colorado, Nebraska, and Nevada. Their feeding operations at 4M Feeders, Herd Co and Magnum Feedyard (partners Steve & Audrey Gabel) have a one-time capacity of 175,000 head, farm grain and forage in excess of 35,00 acres and they run 10,000+ cows/pairs.

Dan markets over 400,000 head of beef cattle yearly and is active in commodity trading. He and his wife Becky have been married for 37 years. They have three children, Zach, Alyssa and Josh and nine grandchildren.
